Revelation: When did John say things were coming to pass? Who was John writing to? And when was the time referred to that Jesus was returning in the clouds?

Jesus inside us (the hope of glory)–His Spiritual Kingdom returned in 70 AD (while most wait on His physical return)

Revelation 1:1,4,7:

JOHN SAID THINGS MUST SHORTLY COME TO PASS

1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

JOHN WAS WRITING TO THE SEVEN CHURCHES IN ASIA

John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

JESUS WAS RETURNING IN THE CLOUDS DURING THE DISCIPLE’S GENERATION (SEE BELOW)

Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

Mark 9:1:

And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.

Matthew 16:28:

28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing herewhich shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Look at the events stated in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21 that occur before the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple–THIS HAPPENED IN 70 AD; AND NOT IN THE FUTURE

Meaning of last days and last time in Hebrews 1 and 1 John 2

Hebrews 1:1-2–last days of the OLD COVENANT, not the end of this age

The prevailing view of the early Church fathers was that Daniel’s vision of the 70 weeks was fulfilled in 70 AD.

The law was fulfilled around 70 AD [destruction of Jerusalem and the temple]–Matthew 5; Matthew 24; Mark 13; Luke 21; and other verses

For those were the days of vengeance —70 AD DESTRUCTION OF JERUSALEM AND THE TEMPLE — so that all things which are written were then FULFILLED
