SCROLL DOWN FOR THE: PARABLE OF THE FIG TREE.
Please note below that Jesus is speaking to His disciples; and He says in Matthew 24 (same in Mark 13 and Luke 21) to His disciples that all these things (in Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21) will happen during their generation. Jesus and the disciplies are sitting on the Mount of Olives and looking over all of Jerusalem and the large Temple (that will be destroyed in 70 AD). So, Jesus is referring to 70 AD (as He told the Jews that they would be barricaded and destroyed). But if you disagree with me and take the position that Jesus is talking to us today, please note that all the signs one reads and applies to the Scriptures with respect to the physical return of Jesus are irrelevant because Jesus says that He will NOT return when you think He will. So the more certain you are from signs, the more wrong you are about saying He is about to return. No one knew when He was returing in the clouds (66 AD) nor does ANYONE know when He will return physically. We are supposed to be furthering the Kingdom of God on earth (He returned in the clouds to bring His Kingdom inside us), not trying to determine when He is returning (He is NOT returning when people think He is). But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you. Matthew 6:33.
Notice that the “signs” one reads comes from man’s news. Richard Duke
Jesus: For the days will come upon you when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, and surround you…on every side, and they will level you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave in you one stone upon another–70 AD
Parable of the Fig Tree
32 “Now learn the parable from the fig tree: as soon as its branch has become tender and sprouts its leaves, you know that summer is near; 33 so you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door. 34 Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. [Disciples’ generation]
36 “But about that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. 37 For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. 38 For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 At that time there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one will be left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one will be left.
Be Ready for His Coming
42 “Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. 43 But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. 44 For this reason you must be ready as well; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.
What is Jesus talking about in the above verses:
The Glorious Return (Jesus is talking TO His disciples)
29 “But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. 31 And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet blast, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other. [Notice He came in the CLOUDS, not on earth]
Jesus inside us (the hope of glory)–His Spiritual Kingdom returned in 66 AD (while most wait on His physical return)
Josephus, Tacitus, and Eusebius wrote that they saw the return of Jesus, as Jesus stated He was returning in the clouds during the generation of the disciples, in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21 in 66 AD.
Jesus said: “…That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power…”
If Heaven And Earth Did Not Pass (As Jesus Said), Then We Are Still Under Every Jot and Tittle of the Law [and hence Jesus Did Not Fulfill the Law]
Jesus established the Heaven and Earth of the New Covenant and replaced the Heaven and Earth of the Old Covenant World
